Changeover from SD to HD
HD Capable Infrastructure for ARD‘s “Bundesliga Sportschau“
Project Description: In close cooperation with the projects‘ prime contractor Quantel, we realised the HD changeover of WDR‘s central sports direction. As member of the public broadcaster network ARD, the TV station produced its sport programme with Quantel systems in SD standard since 2003. To achieve a smooth transition and to keep the existing production workflows, all existing Quantel sQ components were upgraded to HD. Now, the whole infrastructure is multi-format capable for an easy material exchange with other ARD TV stations. Additionally we renewed the direction‘s monitoring wall with LCD monitors and a brand-new multiviewing and router system.
What‘s on? One of the programme flagships produced with the new system is the German Football League. With an audience rate of up to 28 percent “Bundesliga Sportschau“ is the most popular sports programme on German television. Since 2010 the TV Station produces and broadcasts the “Bundesliga Sportschau“ in HDTV.
