High Performance Platform for 300 Concurrent Clients

Project Description: A cross-functional media asset management system, editing and postproduction, central video storage, studio automation as well as ingest and playout capabilities, graphics systems and an entirely new IT-infrastructure - in case of the new build of SWRs “Funkhaus” in Stuttgart our company group was responsible for the complete realisation of a tapeless production system.

In order to perfectly meet the individual production requirements, we defined and specified a cross-functional tapeless workflow using a customised solution. Now, the high efficient proxy format H.264 in MXF containers - developed by our company in close cooperation with Omneon, AmberFin, MOG Solutions and S4M - allows an exchange of material between all relevant systems. The highly performant infrastructure enables about 300 user to access simultaneously data from the central storage system. In addition, a large number of real-time streams towards all systems is ensured. In the field of ingest, we also took over the studio automation implementation: The extended system is not only controlling all video servers, but also light, camera roboters and graphics systems.
