PHOENIX
Tapeless Production Environment
New Production Infrastructure for Phoenix
Project Description: On behalf of the German public broadcaster WDR we outfitted the documentary channel Phoenix with a complete tapeless production environment. One of the major challenges was the adaption of the state-of-the-art system to Phoenix-specific workflows: For being on-air 24/7 the broadcaster required an integrated solution from ingest to playout, with additional features like automatic programming at night.
What‘s on? Phoenix is the joint documentary channel of German public service brodcasters ARD and ZDF. With focus on long live broadcasts, in-depth interviews and documentaries the channel covers a broad range of political, economic and social topics. In case of changing news situations Phoenix is able to quickly change its programme accordingly. The new production environment provides the necessary flexibility to do so.
